I have worked as a part time teacher for over 20 years at Oakton Community College, located in Des Plaines and Skokie, Illinois. I am an excellent teacher, well liked by my students and colleagues.
Oakton has now decided to do a Jimmy Johns on their part time instructors, reducing the hours they work, so that they don't have to include part time instructors in their health insurance plan, a clear subversion of Obamacare.
This is affecting hundreds of employees who depend on their Oakton paychecks to stay afloat, pay their bills, pay for their health insurance.
It's clear that Oakton never even considered complying with Obamacare, which is the law of the land.
I don't know if there is any immediate recourse for the hundreds of affected educators, but I certainly think that the federal government should not issue any new grants, contracts, or other federal disbursements to any institution of higher learning that intentionally subverts Obamacare. It should not be business as usual for these colleges and universities.
Anyone else in the same boat?
