She's too liberal! Too liberal!
I'm the majority leader! I decide this election is in my favor!
Boys, just you wait!
Per Roll Call, here's Kentucky Governor Steve Beshear on Ashley Judd's potential candidacy for the U.S. Senate:

Democratic Kentucky Gov. Steven L. Beshear said Thursday that actress Ashley Judd would make a “very serious candidate” for Senate, according to a cn|2 video.
“I talked to Ashley Judd during the Kentucky Ball that was part of the inaugural ceremonies in Washington in January,” Beshear said. “And then she’s been trying to arrange, and will be arranging, some more conversations here in the next month or so.”
Judd, a Democrat, is considering a run against Minority Leader Mitch McConnell. Most recently, she indicated an increasing seriousness about a campaign by reportedly meeting with the Democratic Senatorial Campaign Committee and dining with top Democrats in Louisville, Ky.
But some Kentucky Democrats fear Judd would be a drag on their ticket.
Asked if he would be supportive of a Judd bid against McConnell, Beshear noted there were other potential candidates.
“There are a number of people who are still talking about running for the U.S. Senate, and I think she would be a very serious candidate, and there may be others that would be also,” Beshear said. “But I’m going to encourage as many as possible to take a look at it.”
The governor, currently serving his second term, lost his bid against McConnell in 1996.
Yeah, Steve Beshear knows a thing or two about challenging Senate Minority Leader Mitch McConnell. He actually did so himself in 1996 and lost. Perhaps Beshear isn't too fond of Mitch McConnell and I don't blame him.
Support from Governor Beshear would really help Ashley Judd's candidacy as he's a very popular Governor in Kentucky and has high approval ratings.
However, going back to a New York Times article which I cited in another Ashley Judd diary I did a couple of days ago, Judd can even win voters easily by being genuine and not a "No" person all the time like Mitch McConnell is:

But those attack lines might not prove as potent as Mr. McConnell’s supporters hope, judging by conversations with voters in here in Ashland. Even discounting a tendency to support a local girl made good, the city of 22,000 on the Ohio River is the embodiment of many Kentucky communities, a onetime Democratic stronghold whose voters feel the national party has drifted too far left.
Still, many residents said Ms. Judd’s character, which they admired, was more important than her politics.
“She may be a little too liberal for me,” said Janice Taylor, a 71-year-old retiree. But neither was she a fan of Mr. McConnell’s.
“I’ve got tired of him,” she said. “He’s always against everything.”
Perry Dalton, 67, who retired from the AK Steel plant in Ashland, said he was a Republican but liked Ms. Judd because she was not a typical politician.
“I know she wants to come back to help her state, her community, just from her heart,” said Mr. Dalton, holding the hand of a granddaughter before a ride on an electric indoor train at the Town Center mall. “I know she’s more liberal than me. But honesty is more important to me than anything.”
Joan Christian, 42, a hospital technician, said she previously voted for Mr. McConnell but would not rule out Ms. Judd even because of her current residence out of state.
“I think she’s as qualified as anyone,” Ms. Christian said. “She was an educated professional woman before she was an actress.”
This isn't Ben Affleck being considered for the U.S. Senate in Massachusetts. This is real. Ashley Judd may in fact be the first woman actress running for or at least being elected to Congress since Shirley Black (aka Shirley Temple), who ran for Congress in 1967 but was unsuccessful in winning. Shirley Black of course is a Republican but perhaps a more traditional Republican than a modern day, Tea Party type of Republican. She was also a representative to the UN General Assembly, US Ambassador to Ghana and US Ambassador to Czechoslovakia. Serving on the U.S. Senate Foreign Relations Committee would be a great start for Ashley Judd as she's got a lot of international awareness and experience:
But of course, Judd also has fire in her belly so that works too.
Now Judd may decide not to run and that's up to her but I can guarantee you there won't be a single Democrat running in Kentucky who will be able to fire up crowds or bases like Judd can.
