The Daily Bucket is a regular feature of the Backyard Science group. It is a place to note of any observations you have made of the world around you. Insects, weather, meteorites, climate, birds and/or flowers. All are worthy additions to the bucket. Please let us know what is going on around you in a comment. Include, as close as is comfortable for you, where you are located. Each note is a record that we can refer to in the future as we try to understand the patterns that are quietly unwinding around us.

On Sunday, March 10, 2013, I happened to be in a good viewing location with respect to my backyard redbud tree and noticed that it had significant bud action going on, both as to number and size. A quick run to the front yard rewarded me with the information that the front yard redbud was just barely starting to bud out.
For comparison, last year I noted that one redbud was just getting some small buds on March 27. A photo-diary of my yard that I did on April 11 of 2012 (here) shows 1) both redbuds were in bud at that date, but 2) the front redbud was well ahead of the rear one, just the opposite of this year.
In summary:
On March 11 the rear redbud had substantial buds and the front one was just beginning to bud
Please post your nature observations in the comments section. Please provide rough information as to where you are observing. Thanks.
