Was there ever any doubt about Gov. Dean's 50 State Strategy? Please help some dedicated progressives implement that same concept on the most local of levels in Wheeling Township, Illinois.
Our local elections are coming up on April 9th -- less than a month to go -- and our canvassing, phone banking and overall 102 Precinct Strategy is in full swing. We're in the midst of our final push fundraising drive with a goal of raising $3000 online between now and Election Day in less than a month.
This is a township that Republicans have dominated for most of the past century. But the tide is turning and right now, if a supermajority of Democrats gets out to vote in our upcoming local election, we can sweep all 8 township positions.

Dems for Lower Taxes.
You see the incumbent Republicans have been continuously taxing residents above and beyond what is needed to run the township's services. They literally have millions sitting in the bank collecting dust after having built up nearly 2-years' worth of reserves. While having surpluses is certainly a good thing, the problem here is that the money is not being put to good use. It's not being put to any use at all.
But we cannot right that wrong without your help. We have the boots on the ground -- now we need a big push in these final weeks to ensure our message gets out to the voters. Will you please consider donating to see us through?
And heck knows the "conservative" incumbents have all the money they need to prop themselves up. You see, the incumbents have decided time and again to give themselves thousands of dollars in taxpayer-funded salaries despite barely doing any work for us taxpayers. Most local elected boards for libraries, schools and parks have volunteer elected officials. Not so at the township. For the not-so-herculean task of attending one meeting a month -- most of which are only about 1/2-hour -- they pay themselves relatively handsomely.
In fact, the incumbent conservative Township Supervisor is among the highest-paid Supervisors in all of Cook County.
And guess what... the incumbents have also recently dumped thousands of dollars into their campaign fund including literally $5,000 in one day from 3 incumbents -- very coincidentally the day of their January township board meeting.
Go figure.
Our hard-working candidates have the social services experience and business backgrounds to run a tight ship and make Wheeling Twp. smarter and more effective. But we really need some financial support to see us through to the finish line.
Our Supervisor candidate is a veteran of the Air Force and Air Force Reserve as well as a retired TWA pilot. He spent years as office manager for the Chicago branch of the Airline Pilots Association, including being elected to the governing board of ALPA at TWA for six years as well as a negotiator for four years.
And that's just the tip of the iceberg when it comes to the depth of our candidates' experience. I'll have more info in coming days.
But for now, please help us out however you can. And, thanks for all that you do.
Forward!
