My late dad lived in Florida when he retired and I used to visit him there. So, as a New Yorker, I continue to be interested in news out of the Sunshine State, particularly breaking stories of political scandal, such as that involving the blatantly corrupt administration of Governor Rick Scott and the now resigned Florida Lt. Gov. Jennifer Carroll
Here is what is being reported
Florida Lt. Gov. Jennifer Carroll has resigned — a move that came two days after she was interviewed about her connection to controversial strip-mall casinos, jacksonville.com is reporting.
Carroll turned in her resignation to Florida Gov. Rick Scott on Monday.
And here is Rick Scott's spokeman's
feeble attempt to diffuse this piece of political dynamite
"Individuals were arrested Tuesday for a racketeering and money laundering charges in connection with Allied Veterans of the Worlds illegal gambling companies. Lt. Gov. Jennifer Carroll consulted for Allied Veterans while serving as a member of the Florida House of Representatives in 2009 and 2010. She was interviewed by Florida Department of Law Enforcement officers Tuesday regarding her work with the company. Lt. Gov. Carroll resigned in an effort to keep her former affiliations with the company from distraction from the administration's important work on behalf of Florida families. She made the right decision for the state and her family."
We are expected to believe that Ms. Carroll owned a PR firm, did business with a money laundering criminal operation, and yet, somehow was unaware of the criminal activities taking place within this business arrangement?
Of course, this is the same person who had friends in high places,at least in Republican circles. SemDem's profile of her is essential reading. She thus likely fit in very well with Rick Scott's corruption machine, a machine from which the resignations because of corruption scandals just keep piling up.
