This week was the 100th anniversary of the death of one of America’s greatest heroes – abolitionist and underground railroad engineer Harriet Tubman. She led over 100 slaves to freedom via the underground railroad. Whenever your hope wanes, think of Harriet Tubman leading a slave family to freedom through a stream or a swamp to frustrate the dogs tracking them while she followed the stars to stay on track. In her death, Harriet Tubman challenges our commitment to freedom and justice.
