Some good news coming out of north Florida with the announcement by Gwen Graham, a lawyer and administrator in the Leon County school district, and daughter of Bob Graham, former Florida Governor, Senator and Florida legend that she will be running for congressional seat in north Florida CD 2.
She would be taking on incumbent Republican Steve Southerland in a purple district which includes blue Leon county home of Florida State University..
Take a look at her website here. She's an environmentalist, a public school advocate, labor advocate and she has great genes!
After receiving a bachelor’s degree from the University of North Carolina, Gwen earned a law degree from American University in 1988. She then went on to work in the private sector on energy and environmental issues. This experience strengthened her belief that America must become energy independent while also protecting our invaluable natural resources, like Florida’s beaches.

Like Gwen, all three of her children attended public schools in Northwest Florida. She understands how important our public education system is, and she served as PTA president and chair of the School Advisory Council.
With her children in school, Gwen returned to the private sector and was practicing law in Tallahassee when Leon County School Superintendent Jackie Pons asked her to join his administration as director of employee relations, later promoting her to division director for professional standards and chief of labor and employee relations.

Let's not make this all about north Florida. It's way pass time we get rid of rinosaur Bill Young FL-13. the longest serving republican member of congress. He's 82 and has been in congress since 1961. It's beyond the pale to see him voting to defund government when he's been on the public take almost his whole professional life. I'd like to see Jessica Ehrlick come back and take him on again. He's been caught acting his age and with his CD supporting Obama in both 2008 and 2012, it's more than time for him to go.
Florida would like to do it's part in winning back the house. Let's make it happen by making 2014 the year of the women.
