I just read a splendid diary from a lady who had lost a friend to the darker aspects of conservatism, something we can all relate to. Some of the comments put me lateral, but that's alright, I mostly live there.
We are the good guys, so, by their lights are they. We judge them for their lack of perception, they judge us for our perceived lack of faith and patriotism. We look forward to a future that never will be, they back to a past that never was. What worries me is that at times we take on the characteristics that we despise in them.
A liberal position should come from compassion, anger toward the people who seem bound to destroy all that is good in society is natural, but agreement never comes before forgiveness. I have made comments that are unforgivable, but except in the case of the Senate majority leader, I will try not to do so in the future.
