Those are not my words. They belong to Texas Democratic Party Chair Gilberto Hinojosa. He made the statement below in response to Senator Cruz's vile efforts to filibuster any possible discussions in the U.S. Senate on behalf of enhanced gun restrictions.
I guess Ted Carnival Cruz has not checked the recent polls that show 90% of the American people favor some types of restrictions on guns. But then, as we should know by now, right wing Tea Party politicians like Ted Cruz are not that into the democratic process. For some reason, given its unholy aversion to women and voter's rights the Republican Party seems far more at home with a top down dictatorial kind of governing.
Dear Democrats –
Have you watched Crazy Cruz’s latest antics in the Senate?
In his ongoing effort to embarrass every sane person in Texas, Cruz has spent this last week trying to shut down our system of democracy. It’s not enough for him to support extremist positions, he now wants to stop the Senate from even discussing common sense ways to keep our kids and communities safe.
Cruz believes that if he and his Tea Party supporters don’t like a topic, issue or appointment, no one should have the ability to debate or hold a vote on those items. He’s rapidly becoming one of the most polarizing figures in the country and his McCarthy like personal slanders continue to earn public scoldings from responsible members of his own party.
Yes, Ted’s making quite the name for himself—maybe because almost everything he does reads like an article in The Onion. But it isn’t funny when he makes a joke out of Texans’ ability to be fairly represented in Congress.
Cruz doesn’t represent me. And I’m willing to bet he doesn’t represent you either!
The only way to stop this train wreck of crazy is to start working and organizing now to elect more Democrats. We are at work to strengthen grassroots organizing throughout the state, solidify Party infrastructure, and recruit highly qualified candidates to run in upcoming elections.
Unlike Cruz, you know how democracy should work. And you know that together we have the power to tell him: You’re Fired!
Let’s get our game on and get ready for a fight.
We’re going to Cruz to Blue!
Sincerely,
Gilberto Hinojosa
No Sir, Carnival Cruz does not represent me at all. In fact, the chief clown for the tea party circus represents few of us. For the Senator from the once great state of Texas brings more
spite than bacon to Texas.
Even members of his own Party are aghast at Cruz's knee jerk McCarthyism.
When Ted Cruz blocks the possibility of a debate in the U.S. Senate, he is essentially telling the American people that we have no right to a debate.
Fortunately for the majority of Americans, at least where potential gun control legislation is concerned, Democrats along with support from a handful of shamed Republicans mustered the votes to break the Cruz filibuster.
Most of us prefer democracy over a dictatorship, Rafael Ted. I understand that your daddy aligned himself on the side of Fidel Castro, a Communist, during the Cuban Revolution in the 1950's. Castro fought against a ruthlessly greedy dictator.
Apparently son Cruz sees a threat to freedom behind every bush. Maybe because he is looking in the mirror and sees himself as the main culprit in that endeavor. His knee jerk reaction to bash Obama's agenda, and then block and obstruct what the majority of the American people want, is indeed a threat to our freedom.
Maybe Rafael Ted is yet one more politician who had daddy issues.
Just what we need. Who could forget W.'s issues with his daddy and Saddam Hussein? W. imagined a terrorist behind every bush. Who knows? Maybe there were terrorists who were in cahoots with Bush Co.
Whatever the case may be, our country is busted and broken thanks to that baggage.
Cross posted on Texas Kaos.
Rafael Ted does seem to overcompensate for his daddy's past. That and his slavish service to his corporate masters.
Just watch Senator Cruz in action with right wing hysteric Sean Hannity. It's mind boggling to watch these two clowns twist themselves into pretzels for the NRA.
Hannity is a master of the stupid. Cruz is a master of the specious.
As far as Texas is concerned we have more than our fair share of right wing whack jobs who should be dwelling inside the walls of an insane asylum or prison instead of occupying state houses, state senates and the U.S. Congress.
One prime example is Texas Railroad Commissioner Smitherman. This whack job tweeted a hangman's noose threat to any Republican who refused to filibuster U.S. Senate gun control discussions.
Another hardened psychopath TX U.S Rep. Steve Stockman (R-insane) recently proclaimed if babies had guns they would not be aborted.
But honestly folks. I truly believe the whack jobs on the right cloak themselves in a toxic message of fear, racism and hatred in order to throw red meat to their base while doing the bidding of the corporate masters behind the scenes. The whack job performances are merely a distraction from what the tea party Republicans
are really up to.
If voters remain as ignorant as the right wing extremists want them to be, we should be very afraid.
But I am hopeful because change in Texas will soon be within our grasp.
Texas Matters.
