Congrats, if you thought it was Yosemite Sam - but alas - it was his even more gun crazed brother in dumbness, Ted Nugent during an appearance on the Alex Jones show.
http://www.rawstory.com/...
“I’m sure the leftist blogs are gonna attack me, misquote me,” he began. “But I’ll tell you why more and more warrior heroes of the military are killing themselves: because they are in absolute frustration and heartbreak that their boss, their commander in chief violates the Constitution that he has made an oath to, while their hero warrior blood brothers are being blown to smithereens and blown up while executing their oath to the same Constitution that the president, the vice president and the attorney general violate.”
Let me just be among the many, among the few who actually still occasionally listen to Theodore, to say -
What the Holy Frack Are you Talking About?".
Because I don't know, I really don't. But I do have a couple theories.
Now, this is not a quote, merely a guess, but it sounds to me like Ted is echoing his previous pre-election comments that the President, Vice President and Attorney General "need their heads chopped off", cuz, y'know, they had done so much to undermine the Second Amendment.
Which up until that point included, like, nothing.
Enjoy that little chat you had with the Secret Service after then Theodore? I think they may have you on speed-dial soon.
Then again, he could be talking about the President's post-Sandy Hood executive actions on stopping gun violence. Yes, of course, because it's completely Counter-Constitutional for the Chief Executive of the Executive Branch of Government to issues Directives and Actions to.... The Executive Branch..
If only there was something in the - whaddayacallit? - oh, yeah, Constitution that addressed situations like that. Hmmm...
Article 2 - Section 1
The executive Power shall be vested in a President of the United States of America.
Yeah, clearly the man is a
Traitor. Particular when his list of Executive Actions included such radical suggests as these.
4. Direct the Attorney General to review categories of individuals prohibited from having a gun to make sure dangerous people are not slipping through the cracks.
9. Issue a Presidential Memorandum to require federal law enforcement to trace guns recovered in criminal investigations.
12. Provide law enforcement, first responders, and school officials with proper training for active shooter situations.
13. Maximize enforcement efforts to prevent gun violence and prosecute gun crime.
17. Release a letter to health care providers clarifying that no federal law prohibits them from reporting threats of violence to law enforcement authorities.
18. Provide incentives for schools to hire school resource officers.
22. Commit to finalizing mental health parity regulations.
23. Launch a national dialogue led by Secretaries Sebelius and Duncan on mental health.
Seems to me that most of these items are things that we're
suggested by the NRA. They've claimed "We don't enforce the laws we have", and that we don't have a gun problem we have a "Mental Health Problem" - yet responding to both of those issues is exactly what the President has "Unconstituionally" done.
Now, I'm not going through all this because of Ted, I'm bringing it all up because the issue of Veteran Suicides does not deserve to be dragged into his Rabid Anti-Obama Psychosis. The rate of suicides by our former soldiers is a genuine problem that shouldn't be trivialized this way. And it's a problem that PREDATES President Obama.
Via Raw Story.
Regardless of Nugent’s claims, military suicides began setting annual records before Obama was president, and have not slowed or subsided even though the Iraq war officially ended on Dec. 15, 2011.
At the National Center for Veterans Studies, recent interviews with soldiers whose suicide attempts failed found that each individual has a complex set of reasons for wanting to end their life, with many listing more than 10 different stress factors in their personal lives. The suicide rate was highest among soldiers who were divorced or separated.
Other recent research points to a potential link between suicide an traumatic brain injuries caused by explosions on the battlefield. “Evidence has suggested that blast injuries, including but not limited to those causing damage to vision or hearing, can have a severe psychological impact… that can play a major contributing role in suicides,” 53 members of Congress wrote in a letter sent to Defense Secretary Chuck Hagel in March.
This issue is serious. It's no joking matter. As more and more soldiers attempt to re-integrate following the end of the Iraq War and the gradual wind down of the Afghan War, the issues and stress that their duty has placed on their personal lives in combination with the physical and emotional trauma they've endured can be shown to be
far greater factors contributing to military suicides than the idea that "Obama Is a Constitutional Jerk".
I mean seriously man, you're just embarrassing yourself with this stuff. I mean on top of all your other embarrassing stuff.
It would be far more substantive and legitimate to criticize President Obama for the backlog in VA disability claims, which has ballooned to nearly 250 days on average. This is something that IAVA CEO Paul Reikoff discussed with "Liberal Mis-Quoter" Rachel Maddow just last night.
But here's something that even Maddow didn't report. The VA has issued Temporary Approval for any Claim that is more than 1-Year Old, and Revoked Bonuses for it's own Senior Management until the Backlog is Fixed.
So that's progress, it's not nearly enough, but it's progress. Addressing suicides is essential a Heathcare issue, and exactly who have been blasting the President as he attempts to apply splints and wrappings to fix and heal our failing Health Care System?
That would be Republicans and the Tea Party. They are the LAST PEOPLE who would lift a finger to help a veteran in need of Heathcare, remember what they did when they met one with Parkinson Disease face to face?
http://www.huffingtonpost.com/...
They've already shown us how they care for our Veterans. They Don't.
As bad as Nugent is, the sad thing is the Alex Jones is actually far far worse.
Reacting to Nugent, conspiracy talk host Alex Jones urged soldiers to turn their anger and frustration into “fighting corruption” at home, rather than turning it into violence against themselves. “I know it’s got to be confusing, Obama is a hijacker of this country,” he said. “We were talking during the break about how they are funding radical Muslims, funding al Qaeda, and I believe letting them attack to then take our liberties. They now say the tea party is the main focus, not al Qaeda, and you agreed with me. Uncle Ted, what do you think is happening with the funding of terrorists?”
Excuse me but wha the
Entire Frack? Obama is "funding Terrorists"? Why no American President would
Ever do such a thing. I mean it's not like a previous President had used Israel to sell weapons and missiles to Iran in order to get Hezbollah to release hostages in Lebanon and then use the
profits from those sales to fund guerrilla terrorists and torturers in Central America. I mean, it's not like his former Vice President would come along and
pardon everyone involved, even those who had been indicted and prosecuted due to their involvement.
Yeah, I'm so glad nothing even remotely like that has ever happened.
Then of course we should be so upset that the Tsarnaev Brothers were briefly on welfare sometime during some previous Presidential (Repulican) Administration - who was that guy again? - or whatever nutbag nonsense that Jones was railing about here.
And then it continues even further off the rails.
“When we look the other way — all we have to do is go back and really examine 9/11,” Nugent said, insisting that government agencies “weren’t even allowed to communicate” because of a “Bill Clinton law,” but everyone somehow knew an attack was coming and did nothing about it.
A Bill Clinton Law said government agencies couldn't communicate? No, it wasn't a law - it was an internal memo that created a wall of separation between the FBI and CIA on domestic intelligence. That rule was mistaken and eventually rescinded - ironically Nugent
recognizes that this still didn't prevent the FAA Warnings of potential hijackings from occuring, it didn't prevent Richard Clarke's desperate warnings and Delenda Action Plan on al Qeada - which was ignored - or prevent the FBI Warnings that "people want to fly planes without landing them", or the August 6th PDB that "Bin Laden Determined to Attack U.S." which including potential targets and methods, or the joint determination by the FBI and CIA that
al Qeada had bombed the U.S.S. Kole, or the midnight ride to Condoleeza Rice's office by George Tenet to warn her about Bin Laden - all of which "somebody" didn't pay any attention to or do anything about until it all
Literally Blew Up IN HIS FACE and killed 3000+ people.
Who exactly WAS that somebody? Anyone remember his name? I heard he has a new bookish thingy opening today, on the Anniversary of some "Mission" that was allegedly "Accomplished" ten years ago. I only wish I could remember the name of that guy who didn't pay any attention to what Clinton and Clarke and the FBI and Tenent told him.
Oh well....clearly he's unimportant in this discussion of Terrorism on American Soil, but it is interesting that neither Nugent or Alex Jones seem to be to remember his name either. Isn't that peculiar?
“Alex, you just gotta be kidding me!” Nugent concluded. “And the point is, here in 2013, that kind of anti-Americanism, that kind of manipulation still goes on with the welfare scams and largess that go to these organizations that try to tell us that Islam suicide bombers are a religion of peace. I mean, it’s just all so offensive, intellectually bankrupt and ultimately treasonous. I used the word treasonous because it’s accurate.”
"Intellectually Bankrupt." Well, at least he got that one thing correct.
Oh, and one other thing. Tamerlan Tsarnaev, like Ted "The Nuge" Nugent, was an Alex Jones Fan too.
Speaking of "Treasonous".
We have real problems and real issues that need to be addressed in this country, we really don't need to get distracted by the self-aggrandizing lunatic theories of Douche Spigots like Jones and Nugent. However, they can sometimes show us - simply by radical ironic contrast - what is truly important and what clearly, seriously, doesn't matter.
