Yes, a change in venue, occasioned by several comments at last month's Kosfest at Casey's that, since the weather is getting nice, maybe we could do something outside. I've reserved a large table, outside and in the shade, at PitFire Pizza, at the corner of Magnolia and Lankershim Boulevards in North Hollywood, for our next Saturday meeting, May 18, at 12:30 PM. Yes, it's a change!
Peruse their website, if you will. Yes, pizza, and salads and panini if those appeal to you more. Delve further and you'll find both an artisan and a locavore sensibility. I haven't been there yet (except to reserve us a table -- it's between the local library branch and the North Hollywood Red Line Station, and I had to pass it on the way to catch the bus for my Monday class, so I went in and did that) because Jim didn't want us to get familiar with any of our local restaurants because he was a creature of habit and he was afraid he'd find someplace he liked where we'd spend too much money. Now I get to explore, and a couple of Kossacks have given it good reviews. And a 23 from Zagat is nothing to sneeze at.
Yes, two blocks south on Lankershim from the Red Line station. If that's too far, the 224 bus from Universal City stops at the corner, as do the 152, 156 and 183 buses. Driving directions are here. There's parking at a city lot just west of it on Magnolia, and the daily maximum is $2.50.
As always, RSVP in the comments, or kosmail me.
