I see the conservative CrAzYs have started to spread (like the plague) to the Northeast.
I know the press attending Senator Kelly Ayotte's town hall meeting on Tuesday in Warren, New Hampshire weren't interested much in reporting anything other than about a confrontation between the senator and her constituents over the senator's 'no' vote on background checks last week. But they missed what I think was the most important question posed to the first term senator during the entire meeting.
And the question didn't come from a constituent.
Ayotte had recognized New Hampshire State Rep. Edmond Gionet (R) at the beginning of the meeting as one of the honored guests. But I'm fairly sure she didn't see the following question coming. If she had, she probably would have bolted out the door before the meeting started instead of immediately after after it was over.
GIONET: One of the things that concerns my constituents — the majority of my constituents –- is the appointments that are now being made in Washington by our President and the way he is handling the illegal immigrants, nationalizing them and giving them the opportunity to vote, and wanting to keep track of our guns. They are worried that they are going to have to use these guns because of our own government. Now is there anything in Washington that says — any telltale signs that maybe we might be headed for an internal revolution given the fact that these kinds of things are going on? This is what’s said in the groups that I sit in.
And her response?
AYOTTE: Obviously, I hope not.
ThinkProgress has the story:
In an exclusive followup interview outside the forum, the lawmaker, New Hampshire State Rep. Edmond Gionet (R), explained to ThinkProgress that he believes “something is bound to happen” and “people are revolting because they’re looking to have a government in place that’s more user-friendly” to people like them.
I believe something's "bound to happen" all right. But that something will most likely be a career change for Republican congress critters in November of next year.
Ayotte had long gone but to the delight of ThinkProgress Gionet decided to stick around to answer a few questions.
When asked to elaborate on his question...
He explained: “This morning, I was down at the Lions Club, at McDonald’s and this [photo of President Obama with Sec. of Transportation-Designate Anthony Foxx] was given to me. And they’re saying all the key positions… That’s the latest one. But even key positions within the White House are going to people that are going to promote his agenda. And this agenda doesn’t appear to be helping us to the extent that it should be. It might be that we’ve got the wrong slant on things, but here again we’re in our own world up here. We understand what we like, the lifestyles that we’ve had, the way the country should be run. And it’s just not happening.”
And when asked about what he would do about the immigration problem...
“The people that are here illegally, on our welfare rolls, should be checked. And unfortunately, they should be sent out, where they came from."
Besides the fact that it's a reactionary response. It would also be practically impossible to deport the more than eleven million undocumented workers currently in the U.S. Moreover, troglodytes like Gionet don't even consider the reality of what kind of deleterious effect a mass deportation of undocumented workers would have on the overall U.S. economy.
These people have no business working in any position of responsibility, let alone making decisions that affect millions of people's lives.
They belong in a zoo.
