As many of you know I posted about an injured feral and some amazing kossacks helped me raise some money for her medical bills. http://www.dailykos.com/...
Well last week she was back to the vet and I honestly expected to be leaving her there for an expensive operation, follow below the fold for the outcome.
Her xrays showed absolutely mangled breaks in the legs and hip which is why he had originally nudged me to euthanize her when she was on the table for her emergency spay..no way to carry kittens with a broken leg and have it heal properly...and it made sense to do the xrays when she was anesthetized. Im not sure if i mentioned in the other update that all I could do was cry hysterically saying "Im sorry" and "do the spay". I just couldn't wrap my mind around putting her down just then.
After he thought about it more and watched how well she was manipulating herself he called and said he in concert with other surgeons had decided to try 4 weeks of cage rest to see what happened as her injuries were a bit old anyway so some healing had started.
I am happy to announce, she now runs with a thumpity thump gait but its really a minor limp and is happy being a cat free of the cage but she uses it for comfort and familiarity. She has been accepted into the harem of my male 3 year old with the other young girls and they all lick each other and play. (he is just like a eunuch with his cast of ladies to watch over)
She has also turned from a feral into a loving and affectionate cat. The other night she pounced all over my body worrying at the duvet wherever i breathed or moved lol. Last night she had a long purring cuddle leaning against me before she went off to cause havoc.
Her bill ended up being about a 1000 dollars which your donations really helped with. Now I am working on trying to spay other ferals so the population can dwindle. If anyone wants to help with that, the paypal addie is in the first diary on lovey but I don't expect anyone to do so. However grateful reception would be had.
I so love all of you, it really means the world that you came through for her, i expected to have to put her down twice and here she is having fun and living life. I consider her to still be healing so she gets a special brekky and dinner that she loves while the other cats get the salmon they love. (she loves shreddies, i hate it anything left looks like dried up worms lol) She is a tiny little girl, did everything right, from not trying to move in the hot box i discovered her in to almost obeying the cage (she escaped once or twice - Houdini's influence i am sure) took her medicines with no complaint and is a delight to have. It took a bit of work to gain her trust but now it is, she has fit right in.
This is rambling, i am just so happy, i goggled at the surgeon when he said "i think, let her be a cat now" and i put her down ..she proved him right by instead of hiding she went to the chairs and jumped, didnt quite make it so jumped again and sat in the chair waiting for us. I think it was a message that she was ready
