Many of you are aware of the takeover of North Carolin's legislature after the most recent election. Republican Pat McCrory, former mayor of Charlotte, was elected governor and since then the republicans have hammered through their agenda. They've opted out of federal funding for medicaid leaving ten's of thousands without health care. They've proposed and are working on passing laws that would make it a felony for a woman to show a "nipple" in public, require photo id's to vote, cause out-of-state students who wish to vote here to essentially pay a poll tax, eliminate the income tax and replace it with increased and new sales taxes that harm the middle class and poor and benefit the wealthy and corporations. They've repealed the racial justice act and are proposing a special tax on hybrid/energy efficient cars because they use less fuel and therefore "quote don't pay their fair share of road tax" which is a gas tax here. There's more, but every day it seems there is some new idiocy coming out of our legislature.
In protest, hundreds..perhaps as many as 1500 people...have been gathering weekly on Monday at the legislative offices to peacefully protest. They've been asked to disperse, and when they don't, they're arrested, cuffed...often painfully...and processed thru the "criminal justice" system. 150+ last Monday.
Below is an excerpt from a "letter to the editor" opinion piece by State Senator Thom Goolsby. I encourage you to follow the link and read the rest of it. It's infuriating.
Never short on audacity, the Loony Left actually named their gathering “Moral Monday.” Between the screaming, foot stomping and disjointed speeches, it appeared more like “Moron Monday.” The gathering was supposed to influence legislators. However, no one thought to bring out any senate or house member from either party.

These legislators appear unwilling to listen to anything but the sound of their voices. Local newspapers are criticising them, constituents are writing, and they are aware they are becoming the laughingstock of the nation. They don't care. They appear intent on destroying the poor and middle classes. Of course, that's not what they say.
Take a look at North Carolina. THIS is what republican governance looks like. It stinks.
