Gee, who could've predicted it? His former wives
said he was violent and beat their kids. The Southern Poverty Law Center
reported that he had a very dark side and "troubled past." His young daughter said he tried to molest her. And yesterday it caught up with
one of Arizona's most well-known border hawks:
A one-time border activist was arrested Wednesday by Phoenix police and accused of sexual conduct involving three girls younger than 10 years old, police said.
Christopher Allen Simcox, 52, who founded the Minuteman Civil Defense Corps in 2005, was booked into a Maricopa County jail on suspicion of child molestation, attempted child molestation and sexual exploitation of a minor.
A former supporter of Maricopa County Sheriff Joe Arpaio and other anti-immigration buttfaces, like recalled Sen. Russell Pearce, Simcox today sits in Arpaio's jail. It's a long fall from just a few years ago, when the handsome and articulate nativist
regularly appeared on Fox News, praising SB 1070 and blasting any attempts at immigration reform.
In 2005, Simcox co-founded the Minuteman Project and later the Minuteman Civil Defense Corps, which hosted Arpaio in 2008 and presented him an award for rounding up a lot of brown people—illegally it turns out. Simcox left the Minuteman circle jerk to run against Sen. John McCain in 2010, eventually dropping out to lend his support to his "good friend" J.D. Hayworth.
Simcox said his senate platform was founded on "family values"—like molesting little girls, apparently. Stephen Lemons reports that Simcox can be added to a growing list of Arizona nativists whose bigotry and hatred turned on them:
By their fruits, ye shall know them: neo-Nazi J.T. Ready, a suicide after murdering four people including a baby girl; minutewoman Shawna Forde, sitting on Arizona's death row for the home-invasion slaying of a nine-year old girl and her father; and now this.
Did I forget anyone? Oh, yes, recalled, former state Senate President Russell Pearce (another Simcox ally), twice defeated in his own conservative East Valley district, in large part because of the hatred he preached, hatred all of these individuals agreed with.
Arpaio, convicted serial racist, is still kicking, though severely boxed in by recent events, and on the decline.
Down the rat hole they all go. They won't be missed.
... not for a second.
