Gordon Soderberg, project manager of The Veterans Green Bus is showing Kossacks at NN2013 just how Large Marg [i.e. the bus] works. Tomorrow he should have business cards and brochures to add to the T-Shirts he is selling to raise money. In addition he will be live streaming from the booth in the Town Square. He can sometimes be found at Table 201.
When he returns here to Portland, OR, Large Marg will be ready to roll once again. Large Marg, a 1980 Crown Coach XL, is the largest size school bus ever built. The superstructure is thick aluminum and could last forever. The engine, according to Kent, the best damn Crown Coach mechanic in the country, is good for at least 1,000,000 miles. The brakes and transmission all appear to be in good shape. AND the damn gasket - the one needed in time to take Large Marg to San Jose - is ready to install tomorrow . . . then Both Gordon and Large Marg will be on the road again.
July 4th Gordon hopes to join Willie Nelson, the Nelson family, and a slew of performers to officially celebrate Willie's 80th birthday in Austin. So, Austin Kossacks - wanna meet-up?
The Veterans Green Bus is an evolving project.
Following a devastating fire that wiped out the Bus's savings, Soderberg had to scramble to get going again. You helped. There is a Virginia Kossack who literally saved the bus with his substantial donations. As
Sara says,
"Gordon makes his own magic through all the good he does for others."
