George Zimmerman needs his gun back because, asserts Zimmerman's brother "George could be a target for those who 'want to take the law into their own hands.'”
I am beside myself and feel only grief, compounded by a sense of horror. It's truly like a nightmare. I can't imagine this is my country.
It's a mess and we keep relying on brand politics? Are we seriously going to worry about the presidency and senators and congressman? Or are we going to change this game, change this system at its roots... in our town halls and then state halls, where we can reclaim control over the para military police, the ugly for-profit private prison system, the race to denigrate our public schools into another profit-making scheme?
This young man's death and the sense that the outcome was inevitable has got to change the way we work, the way we engage socially and politically. We have got to stop ALEC and stand your ground to stop the new upper class from killing the lower classes.
I don't want any other American kid to suffer this... I don't want it. I don't want it anymore. And Hillary isn't going to change it. Elizabeth Warren isn't going to change it. Harry Reid isn't going to change it.
It is up to us and we need to find the right places to reclaim power. And we need to retool how we use the internet and network and research to use existing laws to stop the thugs.
Or do we simply feel bad, pay lip service and then go back to supporting the kinds of people who have brought us this ugly reality?
I pray to the universe that we don't.
