As a people by the systemic dysfunction of DC
Reading Eugene Robinson today
The public is not amused. Three out of four Americans disapprove of the job Congress is doing,
Then
Here’s the basic problem: The Democratic Party seems likely to grow ever stronger nationally while the GOP remains firmly entrenched locally. This means the stubborn, maddening, unproductive standoff between a Democratic president and a Republican majority in the House may be the new normal.
Finally
Commentators who criticize the president for not hosting enough cocktail parties or golf outings for Republicans are ignoring political reality. He has tried being nice, he has tried being tough, he has tried offering to compromise, he has tried driving a hard bargain. Nothing works if Republicans are committed to blocking every single thing he seeks to do.
The Republicans have decided that less government in fact means dysfunctional government.
Whereas many of us would like less government in our vaginas, bedrooms, communication systems and generally being the world's biggest bully; we would like what is essential to work.
The ACA fiasco is noteworthy, it was voted into law by a super majority, it was judged to be constitutional by SCOTUS. Many on the left and on the right don't like it for completely different reasons, the difference comes in the follow-up.
The left want to make it more inclusive, cheaper and better.
The right just want to fuck the whole thing up and return 50+ million back to being uninsured.
Same thing with gun laws, sensible legislation or just let the massacres continue, you just know which side the Republicans are going to be on.
Republicans to win regard disenfranchisement as a viable tactic.
Republicans regard owning as a gun as freedom, but, inserting probes into your vagina and interfering with your sexuality they treat as perfectly normal government business.
You can treat the American public as idiots for only so long.
Eventually the shit will hit the fan.
Get your fucking act together.
We are not amused.
