Written by a Fox news hating, hard core democrat liberal who is often stunned and saddened by racism... But who can read and think. Do you know the facts? Does it matter? This whole thing was a shocker to me. I want to know if people do or do not know all these simple facts (I didn't). See the T/F questions below....and see the Poll, Samza is curious.
TRUE or FALSE:
Trayvon did not have a gun or knife the night he was fatally shot. T
George Zimmerman was in the car when a dispatcher told him to remain in the car. F
George Zimmerman exited car and in spite of being told not to. F (transcript of 911 call. He was out of car before any statement, and when asked, he was told there was no need to follow. But he was not in car when this was said... This is so often stated as "he got out of car even though he was told not to." And that did not happen).
There was as altercation and someone repeatedly yelled for help. T
More than one neighbor called 911 to report a fight and that someone was repeatedly calling out for help. T
No one came to help. T
Trayvon's parents said it was Trayvon's voice when they heard the 911 recording. T
George's family said it was George's voice. T
Voice experts were not able to conclude whose voice it was. T
Trayvon's family have said they believe George attacked Trayvon. T
One caller to 911 said a guy with a red sweater was on bottom being hit and calling for help (George had red jacket on). T
The back of George's clothes were wet on the back with dirt and grass when police arrived T
He changed into clean and dry clothes and his face cleaned up at the police station. T
George had no clear injuries that night. F
Photo from the police that night taken in the squad car showed a badly injured nose on George, and there is an additional photo of a bloody back of the head with cuts. By the next day both his eyes had blackened T (see Wikipedia and references there linked, photos)
Trayvon's body did not have any signs of being hit, but his knuckle(s) showed a cut or mild injury. T
Forensic experts said the bullet hole indicated the shooter was below Trayvon, consistent with Trayvon kneeling, standing or being over someone on their back. T
George Zimmerman spontaneously described Trayvon as black when calling to report suspicious person. F
Media edited out the dispatcher query about the race so it sounded like Zimmerman spontaneously said "he looks black" rather than answering a direct question. T (http://newsbusters.org/...)
The only racial slur recorded that night was used by Trayvon, not about Trayvon. T The term Cracker was used, Cracker is a pejorative term for whites.
The gated community Zimmerman lived in was less than 50% white. T
Zimmerman is white. F
Trayvon had been suspended two or three times and was often truant. T.
School officials found evidence of break in within his backpack when searching it after Trayvon spray painted lockers within the school. T
Trayvon was 17, was not living his mother, nor at his father's during the prior school year, and he was currently staying at yet a different house ( the mistress of his uncle? ) T
Trayvon's family hired media consultant shortly after the shooting, before it went viral. T
His cell phone indicated some interest in violence, such as some mild bragging about hitting a bus driver. T
No one who knew George Zimmerman would say he was prejudiced against blacks: it was discovered he was a mentor to black kids, had helped black families new to his neighborhood, and circulated a petition when a black homeless man was assaulted by a white teen. T
The "gated community" Zimmerman lived in had been recently victimized my both burglaries and violent crimes. T
It is possible that George was trying in many ways to improve his community ( he reporting pot holes, mentoring kids, welcoming new people when they moved in) and was worried about the increasing crime.
It is possible Trayvon, being new to the neighborhood, was scared or annoyed at being watched and/or followed by a strange man, and jumped him.
It is possible George's nose was broke due to repeated blows by Trayvon and his head was injured by it being slammed to ground by Trayvon. T
It is possible Trayvon was punched or hit by George at least once during altercation. F
George was possibly 20 lbs heavier than Trayvon at the time of the shooting. T (the pictures of Zimmerman during the trial are not representative of his size during the shooting night, Zimmerman has gained about 100 pounds).
George was several inches taller than Trayvon. F
Trayvon was much taller than George. T
Media --at times -- can leave out facts and falsely report certain things to give a false impression. I had a completely wrong idea. I think my wrong idea came from the edited calls played by Media and the word choices that the media consultant group crafted for the media.
If Trayvon had lived, and had police arrived with Trayvon on top hitting and George having no injuries-- Trayvon would have been charged with assault, probably as an adult.
The police consistently said it was a pretty clear case of self defense. T
Also, a jury of peers heard evidence and both sides, over many days, and decided not guilty. T
It is possible that even though Trayvon was a young black male, he did jump and start beating a stranger who was obviously watching him. I changed my view of this entire case. The things I thought happened -- were not true. These are the things I thought : That Zimmerman was white and lived in an all white gated community. That Zimmerman had no signs of injury. That Zimmerman had history of distrusting blacks. That Zimmerman spontaneously referred to the kid as being black and a punk. I had no idea there was a fight and Zimmerman got the worst of it and Trayvon had no injuries. I also had the idea that Trayvon had never been in any trouble... that last one.... needs it own post. Briefly the reason this matters to me is -- now -- it looks like spin of media. Media stories and pundits one after the other said he had never been arrested, was a good kid, implied he as academically oriented. This is not reality. Can't have it both ways: if it was "newsworthy" that he loved math, that he had never been in trouble, liked extracurricular activities-- then it is newsworthy he skipped school 53 days, was thrice suspended, not living at home. That's how I see it.
T or F: No one has ever been beaten to death or even seriously injured by a teen unless the teen used a knife or gun.
T or F: George Zimmerman used "Stand your Ground" law in his defense. FALSE!!

Someone called for help multiple times, and No One Came.
