I guess Mike Lee is feeling overshadowed by Ted Cruz again after the latter basically called the rest of the GOP a big bunch of wussies for not going along with their super-awesome plan to force a government shutdown in order to kill Obamacare. (And when I mean awesome, I mean for Democrats.) Or maybe he's just angry over being forced to admit that it probably won't happen. Either way, he took a moment today to throw another tantrum and go further that just name calling like Teddy did.
So what did he say? This threat:
Tea party Sen. Mike Lee (R-UT) put the GOP on notice Tuesday by characterizing a vote against shutting down the government by refusing to fund the Affordable Care Act as endorsing the law outright.
"Defund it, or own it. If you fund it, you're for it," Lee said on the Senate floor.
That sound you just heard is
Erick son of Erick wetting his pants in ecstasy.
However, his threat doesn't seem to affect his fellow Republicans much if this is any indication:
One of those Republicans who disagrees with Lee's strategy, Sen. Tom Coburn (R-OK), explained on the Senate floor that defunding Obamacare would require a highly-unlikely 67 votes.
"I'd love to defund Obamacare, I'd like someone to show me a mechanism to do it" he said.
You're probably going to be disappointed on that front, Tom. (Incidentally, when
Tom freaking Coburn is looking like a voice of reason on the GOP side, we truly have entered strange days.)
Back to the threat drawing board, Mike. I hear this method is effective. And since you and Teddy already are horse's asses, it shouldn't be too hard to find a few heads.
