Remember when Barack Obama's name was on the DLC list?

“I am not currently, nor have I ever been, a member of the DLC,” said Obama, in a statement that substantially reflects a telephone conversation with Associate Editor Bruce Dixon, this weekend. “It does appear that, without my knowledge, the DLC…listed me in their ‘New Democrat’ directory,” Obama continued. “Because I agree that such a directory implies membership, I will be calling the DLC to have my name removed, and appreciate your having brought this fact to my attention.”
Sure he wasn't. Except, if you look at the DLC's agenda, it looks very much like a Xerox copy of the Obama Administration's agenda.

Against universal health care? Check
We had a Democratic supermajority, control of both houses, and public support for universal health care. And yet Obamacare was passed instead.
For charter schools? Check.
Pro NAFTA? Check.
Wall Street Policy? His position on Larry Summers should tell you all you need to know.
Support for the PNAC agenda in the Middle East? Check.
The DLC gave strong support for the 2003 invasion of Iraq. Prior to the war, Will Marshall co-signed a letter to President Bush from the Project for the New American Century endorsing military action against Saddam Hussein. During the 2004 Primary campaign the DLC attacked Presidential candidate Howard Dean as an out-of-touch liberal because of Dean's anti-war stance. The DLC dismissed other critics of the Iraq invasion such as filmmaker Michael Moore as members of the "loony left".[14] Even as domestic support for the Iraq War plummeted in 2004 and 2005, Marshall called upon Democrats to balance their criticism of Bush's handling of the Iraq War with praise for the President's achievements and cautioned "Democrats need to be choosier about the political company they keep, distancing themselves from the pacifist and anti-American fringe."
This is important, as Syria has been a target on the PNAC hit list for over a decade. The DLC and PNAC have disbanded, you say? LOL. Maybe just officially. But
this letter sent to Obama is basically a who's who of the PNAC from a decade ago.
We're just going to have to face it. Obama is a Third Way Democrat, just like Clinton. Syria was going to be invaded by the US under his administration, no matter what. It was only a matter of time.
Don't get me wrong...I do not like or support Assad. I did not like Hussein, either, of course. But I also don't like the idea of contributing to the PNAC/DLC's steamroller of death in the Middle East. Between 100,000 and 200,000 civilians were killed in Iraq. Syria will be a bloody mess, just as bad if not worse. All in the name of complete world domination.
Assad is helpless if we try to invade, and he knows that better than anyone else. He knows that using chemical weapons is akin to suicide. So why would he fire them, knowing it's the magic key to US finishing him off?
I'm not going to cry if Assad is gone. But I also don't think Syria will be as easy as Libya. I also don't think Obama intends to comply with the legal process (neither US or UN) when it comes to starting this invasion. This nerve gas attack is just Iraq WMD Version 2.0. We were going to invade Iraq no matter what, and we're going to invade Syria no matter what. It's a foregone conclusion. The "red line," etc. is nothing but theater. Let us all just welcome the PNAC agenda to the Democratic Party. We don't have any other choice. Let us not delude ourselves about who actually "won" control over the Democratic party. It was not us, the bloggers or the liberals. The DLC disbanded because they won, not because they lost.
