We leave no man behind. I need to get Glen SuperDoc Miller form California back to the bus in Detroit after securing his personal belongings at home. We are looking to buy him plane ticket to St Luis, MO from San Jose.
Glen has proven time and time again his value to our efforts. Volunteering in Sandy and to help start a Veterans Service Home In Visalia and fixing the bus.
That organization did not deliver on what they promised Glen. All the other veterans and have left. And he has no choice but to leave as well.
He and I both helped this organization get ready to open then helped them open three weeks ago. Now, they are attempting to charge Glen rent and not providing councilors or paying for the work that he has preformed. With no income from the work he has done there is no way to pay the rent and with no services being provided there is no reason to stay.
He has contacted the EDD offices and reported this organization to the proper authorities but that dose not change his current circumstances. Lets get Glen out that hell and back to where people appreciate his efforts.
This same organization that asked for the Veterans Green Bus Crews Help and then offered Glen a job has taken advantage of both our organization and Glen personally. We don't what will come of this. But we are not going to leave any man behind.
Detroit is a great Town despite the bad publicity. We have a opportunity to help rebuild sustainably. We will take the lessons we learned from this experience and grow an organization that is organized run and managed by the veterans themselves.
Our goal is not to make a living off of warehousing veterans. We are going to buy and rebuild our own housing together. Where each veterans who participates can earn a home of his own. We are done with revolving doors for veterans and endless paychecks for organizations to keep veterans in the an unsustained system. We are going to take care of each other because it seams the best intentions of the current system of temporary and transition housing are not working for veterans.
