President Obama did a very courageous thing yesterday by dropping the ball in the lap of Congress. I thought he was going to go it alone and just "pull the trigger". I would have been supremely disappointed but not surprised had he done so, but he did not.
The President is under enormous pressure, what with John Kerry rattling his sword, and the likes of Joe Lieberman trying to shove us down the war path.
And after President Obama's "red line" blunder, (which gave every freedom fighter and terrorist in Syria an explicit goal of gassing civilians in order to get the U.S. to come in and do their dirty work) I am surprised the president actually walked it back. That took courage.
Read below and fill out the poll.
I want to know, are you for war or against war with Syria?
Is there no other alternative?
Must we just bomb the hell out of the Syrians? Is that the only solution?
Or can a wiser and less lethal solution be developed among us, our allies and our enemies?
Why is it that we (the U.S) think that bombing is the only way?
Why is it we always have to go it alone?
I know I don't want to go to war, but no one listens to me.
I live in Brooklyn New York. My friends and neighbors are a mixture of every race and nationality. I have spoken to no one who is in favor of war. No one.
Every person I spoke to is opposed.
I suggest, whatever you think, you communicate with the people that represent you in Congress.
And please tell them NO MORE WAR!
