The NBC News/Wall Street Journal poll tells us a plurality in the US oppose raising the debt ceiling; 22% are in favor.
So obviously a plurality does not understand what the debt ceiling is. This is a short entry for the purposes of raising a questions: Do you think the president should schedule another address to the nation like the one he just did for Syria--this time explaining that raising the debt ceiling is about paying debts that the US has already incurred? If people had it explained clearly then do you think it would change the poll numbers? Should President Obama have used the address on Syria to discuss the debt ceiling too?
