manoman. so I was reading the site on my phone this weekend. I saw the dustup. I see both sides, and am not sure on which I come down. fair warning: if you don't wanna see n-bombs dropped, stop reading now... 'cause for the purposes of this diary I'll step outside myself and talk like I'm not in mixed company.
triple b is the homie. that's my nigga on here, for real. he's also an unrepentant asshole. both are true at the same damn time. and yeah "thats my nigga" is how I actually think about dude. in real life, talking about this amongst my friends or to my lady I'd start: "this cat on dkos called brooklynbadboy's the kinda nigga that..."
dopper is the homie. that's my chief at BK. he's also absolutely NOT an asshole, unrepentant or otherwise. dude is a genuine good dude all around.
one might think I'd automatically agree with dopper on this one, and they'd be justified in thinking so, given what I've said of my background and upbringing. but not... really.
as the title of this diary hints, I say it ALL THE TIME. it peppers my speech. nearly all my friends do too. my lady does. my uncle does. however, that's only in situations in which everyone is Black. actually, it's only in situations in which everyone is Black and under 60 (with the exception of my uncle.) it would never occur to me to use it in mixed company, unless I was blackout pissed off. (so, yeah, come to think of it: I may have used it on here a time or two LMAO!!)
but I DO see where dopper's coming from. my mom ONLY used it as a slur, like white people do. meaning she only called black people she thought were stains on existence that word. my father has never uttered it in my presence. same for my grandparents, all of em. I remember straight telling triple b to watch his mouth one time when he used it directly at an elder (meaning an over-60 Af-Am) on here. like, what part of the game is that? I know he most likely came up with the same social mores as me, so to me that was just him being an asshole, which he tends not to deny lol. like I said above I codeswitch automatically, without much thought. my mind forms different words based on who's listening. that's my thing I do. I DON'T, necessarily, require others to do the same. I totally get the whole "nobody censors me and my voice is my voice" thing, and support that with all my heart, as an American. for real, forreal. and I think bbb's voice is authentic. as authentic as mine. or dopper's. and voices like his talk just like that.
yo brooklyn! this on'e s for you lol:
and chief this one's for you:
I dunno if I helped anything but I felt like I had to weigh in, all things considered. not that anyone asked me lmao.
