Especially after reading my cleaning entry, where I want to seriously CUT much of the first half because it only conceals the point I was making, that cleaning is not the moral good so many people, especially women, make it.
I'm very new to all this, obviously, but I presume it's all right to pass on significant posts I've found elsewhere on the net which I think our community might well be interested in. I hope this is all right -- if it were in DK, I of course would just rec that. I feel no urge to pass on the "usual suspects," but was told if I didn't link to an actual published story, my commentary is just a rant.
So, my topic for the day: neo-nazis taking over a small town. This story is a fascinating take on local reaction to Nazis in North Dakota trying to take a township as their own. I also very much enjoyed the comments debating ethics (and must admit, contributed one of my own.)
The column's called "Why It's Important for Communities to Confront Nazis," by David Neiwert.

Statement which crystallized my desire to pass this on:
Haters and racists thrive in darkness, and they thrive on silence. They look for approval from whatever source they can muster. For them, silence equals tacit approval.
