The OU Medieval Fair is April 5-7 this year.
Itzl and I are running the Water Paws Pet Comfort Station - a free service to all the attendees who bring pets to the Fair.
Because of the warm winter, we are expecting either a wet Fair or a hot one like last year's. I'm thinking we're getting a muggy hot Fair with rains before, but as dry as it's been, the ground will still be firm.
Except around the Water Paws booth, where the ground will be muddy because we are cooling off hot dogs by wetting them down.
Itzl and Xoco will be there, presiding over everything on their "ice chair" so they can stay cool:
There will be many beautiful, well-behaved dogs there
And a few other pets:
Adorable puppies:
Any Kossack who wants to come is welcome to come and enjoy the pets and the shade and we can do a meet-up all weekend long!
It's held at Reaves Park in Norman. The best place to park is at the Lloyd Noble Center (it costs - all the money goes to the OU Athletic Department - but it's relatively close). The Lloyd Noble parking lot is at the southwest corner of Jenkins and Constitution just slightly north of Hwy 9. Take I-35 from either the north or the south, go EAST on Hwy 9 to Jenkins, north on Jenkins. The Lloyd Noble parking lot will be on your left. Park there, walk north. You can't miss the Fair.
Entry to the OU Medieval Fair is FREE (even if parking costs - last year it was $5 a car, I don't know if they've raised their price this year).
Here's a map of the Fair Site - as you can see, Water Paws is easy to find. Look at the middle where all three sections of the Fair meet. Just slightly to the North and East of the middle is the Unicorn Stage, and just a bit north and to the west of that is Water Paws. When the dogs aren't blocking it, we have a lovely, shaded view of the Unicorn Stage.
Y'all come. Whether you live in Oklahoma or are visiting, we'll be there all weekend, so you are more than welcome to drop by at any time, meet Itzl and Xoco, get your picture taken, pause in the shade, cool off (if needed), and chat a bit.
Oh, yeah, you also get to enjoy the Fair, which is one of the best Medieval Fairs in the country.
No other Meet-Up comes with all the cute doggies you can stand - last year, we watered and cared for nearly 2,000 dogs.
I'll bring extra chairs, but you might want to bring your own. I'll have chilled bottles of water to share, too.
