Is there any precedent for the depth of failure of Repub spinmeisters in enabling today's cancellation, by two networks of a documentary and a dramatization of Hillary's life, being blamed on the following on Yahoo News?
"Neither political party wanted the film made,"
and further explained like this on
Reuters (via VOA):
The filmmaker for CNN said he could not complete the project because he'd received no cooperation from either Democrats or Republicans, while industry sources said NBC's move had nothing to do with the RNC, the Clintons or NBC News
More detailed
reporting and links at FDL underline that these projects always contained hugely more risk than reward for Hillary.
And the Repubs' consolation prize for this narrative is that they have drawn more attention to their desire to game network coverage of their debates, as indicated by this follow-up quote:
“Now that CNN and NBC have canceled their Hillary Clinton infomercials, we will work on developing a new debate model that will address the timing, frequency, moderators and venues that will come in the next few months,” [RNC spokeswoman Kirsten] Kukowski said.
The Repubs only needed to keep their mouths shut in order for today's headlines to be
"What Else R Bill & Hill Covering-Up?"
(and this would have been in the "Liberal" MSM, which would have given unearned credibility to headlines of Fox and its pack that are beyond my ability to imagine).
Regardless of any particular Progressive's view of Hillary's attractions as candidate for the Democratic Presidential nomination, it is beyond obvious that, from the present stratospheric location of her apparent electability and generally positive public image:
1. the only possible direction is down, and
2. probably the most likely way to drive it down far enough to lose an election would have been through the making and broadcasting of two(!) competing ratings-seeking dramatizations of her life.
The inability of the Repubs to see this shows that their longstanding incoherence in policy-making is metastasizing into incoherence in their traditional stronghold of spinning and campaign-strategizing.
