So I know this is nothing new in the hypocricy and irony department, but I found it to be a great example of how many Republicans and "Libertarians" think the U.S. Government sucks, until, wait for it, They need help.
My Republican Representative Cory Gardner who represents Colorado's 4th congressional district, which include a large part of Northern and Eastern Colorado EXPECTS the President and Vice President to follow through on their promise to provide substantial aid to flood victims in our area. To note, so do I, but I'm not a fargin hypocrite like he is.
He starts his letter off reasonably enough:
“I am grateful for Vice President Biden’s visit to Colorado last week, and am glad that he was able to view the damage caused by this tragic flooding for himself. The Obama administration’s willingness to offer assistance since the flooding began has been appreciated by all Coloradans who were impacted."
Great. Scary Barry and Crazy Joe offered help and he accepts.
Then he starts wading into hypocrite territory:
"As President Obama’s chief surrogate, I trust Vice President Biden’s word. The President and Vice President must stay true to their promise and see to it that federal assistance is not slowed or stopped in any way as the Vice President promised."
You see, he TRUSTS the Veep's words and he EXPECTS them to follow through on their promises of most likely Tens, if not Hundreds of Millions of dollars to help flood victims. I agree. I expect our part of the state to receive substantial assistance for the catastrophe we experienced.
He even went so far as to sponsor a bill to increase the cap for disaster related transportation funds that passed on Sept. 30th.
"On September 30th, my legislation that would raise the cap on disaster-related transportation funds successfully passed the House."
But, but, but, doesn't "raise the cap" translate to increase the deficit even MORE?
Don't get me wrong, we were hit hard in this part of the state. Thousands of people became homeless, many losing EVERYTHING. We can use these funds, and I am grateful that he pushed for additional funds and wants the U.S. Government to help out. But why is it these "folks" always play this double standard? (rhetorical question).
Here is his Press Release in it's entirety.
