Are The Top 10% of Americans so Poor that they Really Need Billions More for Themselves?
How much does the top need? All of them have more money than they could ever spend.
Some Wealth Distribution Facts for America
Here are some dramatic facts that sum up how the wealth distribution became even more concentrated between 1983 and 2004, in good part due to the tax cuts for the wealthy and the defeat of labor unions:
• Of all the new financial wealth created by the American economy in that 21-year-period, fully 42% of it went to the top 1%.
• A whopping 94% went to the top 20%,
• Which of course means that the bottom EIGHTY PERCENT, 80%, received only SIX PERCENT, 6%. of all the new financial wealth generated in the United States during the '80s, '90s, and early 2000s.
The bottom 40% of the population holds just 0.3% of the wealth in the United States.
The top one percent of households own:
• 35% of all privately held stock,
• 64.4% of financial securities, and
• 62.4% of business equity.

This tiny sales tax on Wall Street is:
.5% on stocks, just $.50 (50 cents) for each $100 of stock trades;
.1% on bonds, just $.10 (ten cents) for each $100 of bond trades;
.005% on derivative speculation in currencies, commodities, or other trades, just $.005 (half a penny) for each $100 of trades
The revenue generated is estimated by economists to be up to 350 billion each year!
The Robin Hood Tax can be a game changer for a fairer, more democratic, more humane, more balanced, and more moral American Tax System.
