CNN: Nevada school shooting: Teacher killed, two students wounded
Mike Landsberry, a popular math teacher at the school, was killed in the shooting, Sparks Mayor Geno Martini told CNN.
In addition to his work as a teacher, Landsberry also had served in the Marines and served several tours in Afghanistan as a member of the Nevada Air National Guard, his brother, Reggie, told CNN's "Anderson Cooper 360."
"He was the kind of person that if someone needed help he would be there," Reggie Landsberry said. "He loved teaching. He loved the kids. He loved coaching them. ... He was just a good all-around individual."

Teacher Michael Landsberry was being hailed for his actions during the shooting outside Sparks Middle School.
"In my estimation, he is a hero. ... We do know he was trying to intervene," Reno Deputy Police Chief Tom Robinson said.
Landsberry, 45, was a military veteran and leaves behind a wife and two stepdaughters. Sparks Mayor Geno Martini said Landsberry served two tours in Afghanistan with the Nevada National Guard.
"He proudly served his country and was proudly defending the students at his school," Martini said.
"The kids loved him," his sister-in-law Chanda Landsberry said.
She added his life could be summed up by his love of his family, his students and his country.
"To hear that he was trying to stop that is not surprising by any means," she said

Yesterday, Michael Landsberry died outside his classroom trying to stop a boy with a gun. Thank you, Michael, for protecting our children. Our laws have failed you, and for this you embraced death so that children in your care could live.
May his memory be a blessing.
These are our brothers and sisters, our mothers and fathers, our children and elders. But for the grace of Spirit, God, Allah, some other deity, or nothing but fate goes each of us.

According to news sources I read today, the two boys, one shot in the shoulder the other in the stomach, are both in stable condition. The other fatality is the shooter himself, believed to be twelve years old.
