Good lord. That was one epic food coma :)
Woohoo! A crisp fall morning welcomed us at Silly's today! The Kossacks came out in force and the honor roll included: BJEdward, LoreleiHI (and Puka!), CommonSenseMainer, our esteemed host BillinPortlandMaine, mayim, simple, cmairead (or, more famously, Santiaga), nhox42, rebereads, bluesheep, Jane in Maine, vacationland, onomastic and lucca. Silly's proved our choice a good one, as they were able to work miracles in keeping everyone happy with special attention to dietary concerns. I cannot recommend them enough for this! From personal experience, I understand the difficulty of this and they made it look easy with a smile throughout :) Kudos to our server Betsy and an awesome job by the kitchen!! One Foot In The Gravy is my new favorite thing, ever.
As always, great conversation and company was had by all, covering topics from our current tumor in Blaine House to the upcoming gubernatorial contest, the race for Senator in Maine and more locally, the upcoming question to restrict tar sands from being exported through the facilities in South Portland (and how odd it was that the opposition to the ordinance suddenly had huge amounts of money, outspending the grassroots opposition six to one). Traditionally, pootie and woozle photos were shared by all and there were many choruses of "Awwwww" echoing throughout the restaurant :) Odd topics included techniques for avoiding speeding tickets, current reading and of course knitting and sock porn.

One of our patron saints, surrounded by Silly's photos from across the globe :)
Some of the many temptations at Silly's that I proved completely unable to resist.
Saturday Sock Porn, brought to you by bluesheep and Santiaga;

The sad remnants left over from my One Foot In The Gravy;

rebereads and her breakfast of champions;
Red Velvet cake. Who doesn't have Red Velvet Cake with breakfast? I do :)
Bill reaching for my Red Velvet Cake. Again, kudos to Silly's here. Instead of the traditional fork, they served a spoon with cake. It's hard to get stabby to cake interlopers with a spoon, thus completely avoiding C+J tragedy :)
I think you see what I was getting at there :)
BillinPortlandMaine and CommonSenseMainer, always the happy and photogenic couple;
Awwwwwww :)
Again, thanks to all for attending, thanks to Silly's for making it happen and make sure you make the next one!
Saludos,
