Really, guys?
The House Republican drive to do absolutely nothing of value
continues apace:
A group of Republican congressmen led by Rep. Pete Olson (Texas) is slated to introduce articles of impeachment against Attorney General Eric Holder on Thursday. [...]
Ten Republicans have co-sponsored the bill so far: Reps. Lynn Westmoreland (Ga.), Larry Bucshon (Ind.), Phil Roe (Tenn.), Blake Farenthold (Texas), Roger Williams (Texas), Randy Weber (Texas), Bill Flores (Texas), Michele Bachmann (Minn.), Louie Gohmert (Texas) and Ted Yoho (Fla.).
Rep. Wilson, who I will once again point out is from Texas because EFFING OF COURSE HE EFFING IS, has a litany of complaints against the attorney general. Because the party has insisted upon elevating stupidity into a form of holy sacrament, most of them are based squarely on conspiracy theories. Fast and Furious makes another appearance. Olson is also angry that IRS agents have not been prosecuted for unduly asking questions of conservative groups seeking tax-exempt status, apparently because he remains blissfully aware of the moment we learned the same attention was paid to non-conservative groups as well, thus ending the once-scandal with an embarrassing
thud. He also wants to impeach Mr. Holder for not properly enforcing—and this is true—the Defense of Marriage Act. Because House Republicans will go to their graves still demanding enforcement of the Defense of Marriage Act, and will still paying out good taxpayer money in doomed attempts to "defend" it long after all others have given up the ghost.
So, will House Republicans impeach the attorney general of the United States for reasons? It seems unlikely; we've already decided that politicizing the Justice Department and helping to organize war crimes are no big deal, so it would look rather bad to decide that insufficient hatred of the dreaded gays was the hill Congress was going to die on. So far the effort appears to be primarily a way for the stupidest members of Congress, half of them from Texas because OF EFFING COURSE THEY ARE, to exchange text messages and feel better about themselves.
Freaking hell, Texas Republicans—you do realize that democracy is not intended to be a dare, don't you? Just because you can elect a collection of fireplace bricks and old tin buckets to national office does not mean you have to.
