Well, of course Michele Bachmann had to
make this be all about her.
Rep. Michele Bachmann says she is one of the people who lost their health insurance because of Obamacare and she won’t go shopping on a health exchange until it’s fixed.
“Are you kidding? I’m not going to waste an hour on that thing,” the Minnesota Republican said when Wolf Blitzer asked her on CNN on Thursday if she’d signed up on the exchange website. “I lost my health insurance under Obamacare. And so now I’m forced to go into the D.C. health exchange. I’m waiting until they fix this thing. I’m not going to sit there and frustrate myself for hours and hours.”
Um, yeah. You and 534 of your colleagues, Michele. (Except for
Ted Cruz, who is on his wife's gold-plated Goldman Sachs plan.) That was part of the law, and it was a
Republican idea. I know it's really taxing for you, but try to remember back three and a half years ago when you and your fellow Republicans thought it was a really cute idea to make members of Congress shop on the exchanges. Not that being informed is really something Bachmann concerns herself with. See, the D.C. health exchange isn't the same as the federal exchange. They built their own. It's had a few bugs, but it's working just fine. She could also shop in her actual home. Minnesota's exchange
is doing just fine.
But that's not the end of Bachmann's outrage.
“At some point we’re going to have to figure it out. I have a husband with very significant health issues. We have to have health insurance. So we will get it figured it out,” Bachmann said.
Appearing with her on the “Situation Room,” Democratic strategist Paul Begala seized on her comments about her husband’s health issues, saying she should be thankful for President Barack Obama’s health care law.
“Actually, we were just fine before,” Bachmann said.
They were fine, the hell with everyone else who has significant health issues. Not that Bachmann's going to worry about those sick people. But she'll figure something out. Maybe she can get her
seven-foot tall doctor to treat Marcus. Maybe he'll take
chickens in payment.
