Today was a great day in San Francisco — sorry, Gotham City — as the city went WILD for a 5 year old named Miles.
Miles has leukemia, and his fondest wish was to be Batman for a day. The Make-a-Wish Foundation obliged, setting up several scenarios around the city involving two of Gotham's greatest enemies, The Penguin and The Riddler. At last count nearly 15,000 San Franciscans had signed up online to play the grateful onlookers.
ABC7News LiveStreamed the event, and 10's of thousands turned out to cheer #SFBatKid along! Pictures and commentary below the fold!
This is one of those times it was just good to be live, and see so many people CARE about one little boys dream, it restored faith in Humanity, and reminded me why San Francisco is the city that knows how!
To be frank, The Make a Wish Foiundation took out all the stops to make Miles' dream of being Batman for a day a reality, and the city that Knows How played right along!
The event started with a Damsel in Distress tied to the Powell Street Cable cars. It then moved to Union Square where a Flash Mob started dancing to Don't Stop Believin' - man in ice rink skating by with Batman sign #SFBatKid.
Here's some more snaps of the Event which went late into the after noon. Towards the End I have screen shots of the ABC 7 Live Stream of the event happening at City Hall/Civic Center. These type of events, where people can come together to make a difference in someone's lives, even just for a day just make me feel good!
3:25 PM PT: I have not been able to find a Video of the FLASH MOB, which was really kool at Union Square in front of the Ice Rink. I could just see the guy skating on the Ice Ring with the Bat Kid sign, would love to see what the Flash Mob looked like, if you find a link please post it in the comments!
3:36 PM PT: ABC 7 just published their piece for the evening news on YouTube, you can watch it here: http://www.youtube.com/...
