In case you needed a boost before Thanksgiving…a little something to put you in the mood for this most American of holidays, a certain cartoonist who frequents our pages has left a pre-holiday gift diary with his interpretation of President Obama as a gorilla.
If you missed it, be my guest.
Much discussion was held in this diary about whether the depiction of Obama was offensive. Many thought so, but even more recommended the diary, even after the diarist admitted to hating the president.
Someone even suggested that it was impossible to draw a cartoon of an African American without it being perceived as racist by someone.
So I wandered over to Google Images and plugged in "cartoon Obama." Up came dozens and dozens of cartoon representations of Obama and not one, not one single one, showed him as a gorilla or a monkey.
I'm wondering then why this kind of "art work" is being featured here? Is this the way we see the president?
