Tuesday!
As you can see by Itzl's concerned look, this group is for us to check in at to let people know we are alive, doing OK, and not affected by such things as heat, blizzards, floods, wild fires, hurricanes, tornadoes, power outages, or other such things that could keep us off DKos. It's also so we can find other Kossacks nearby for in-person checks when other methods of communication fail - a buddy system. Members come here to check in. If you're not here, or anywhere else on DKos, and there are adverse conditions in your area (floods, heatwaves, hurricanes, etc.), we and your buddy are going to check up on you. If you are going to be away from your computer for a day or a week, let us know here. We care!
We have split up the publishing duties, but we welcome everyone in IAN to do daily diaries for the group! Every member is an editor, so anyone can take a turn when they have something to say, photos and music to share, a cause to promote or news!
Ok, we have a current diary schedule. If you would like to fill in, either post in thread or send FloridaSNMom a Kosmail with the date. If you need someone to fill in, ditto. FSNMom is here on and off through the day usually from around 9:30 or 10 am eastern to around 11 pm eastern.

If you'd like to be part of the Itzl Alert Network, please leave a comment asking to join, or send us a message asking to join. We'd love to have you. The bigger our network, the less likely someone will be stranded all alone.
Well,
here we are again,
another bigjac Tuesday.
I suppose you all know
my chosen mission in life
(aside from feeding and caring for
my bride and our close family)
my mission to sound the alarm:
it's in my new signature line:
Famine in America by 2050:
the post-peak oil American apocalypse.
One of my co-workers suggested to me,
that if I truly want my message to get out,
I could start a cult.
Then,
my wife was watching a reality show:
Doomsday Preppers
These days Amanda and her husband Scott spend their time hidden away in the mountains, where they practice sustainable living to prepare....
Then I realized,
the cult is already there.
All I need to do
is explain to them
that the real threat
to easy living in America
is the coming shortage of diesel fuel,
resulting in a shortage of food
in the supermarkets.
The preppers I saw in the show
already have the correct mindset:
our current American lifestyle
is not sustainable,
and most folks don't see that.
Those of us who do see it
need to at least get our own families ready.
The majority of Americans
will not realize the truth
until it's too late.
These preppers already see that.
My only contribution,
and I think it's important,
is that I have the correct reason why
we need to get ourselves ready.
Noddy said she is
a survivalist.
I believe, fervently and passionately, that survival is important. If I didn't believe this, I wouldn't write for this group.
So,
that gives us all a connection
to this topic.
By the way,
I eat a high fat diet,
plenty of animal fat
and animal protein,
just as folks do
when surviving in the wilderness.
But it's great fun
to add to that
with the fruit of a backyard garden.
As soon as I post this,
I'm going to cut up
cabbage,
green tomatoes,
cantaloupe,
turnips,
and one jalapeno pepper,
all home grown,
and I'm dropping them in a big,
half gallon jar
with Vlasic kosher dill brine in it.
bigjac pickles.
That's the very last fruits
of my backyard garden,
for this year.
Next year,
we intend to have chickens,
and lots of eggs.
I make a mean
grilled egg and cheese sandwich.
What are you doing
to prepare for the worst?
Hope you're doing well,
but even if not,
tell us about it.
We're here to listen.
