So I'm sitting at the Department of Economic Security. After the first hour and a half I was able to secure a spot next to an outlet and break out the laptop, set up the phone for wi-fi, and got to work in my mobile office. Many of the people around me took off work to be here, or are out of work due to lack of transportation, or are taking care of children. And then there are a few like me. Well, I seem to be the only one with the full mobile office, but I overhear snippets of conversations that are clearly business and/or job related.
So I wonder...if someone were to get the data and crunch the numbers, how many hours of gainful work are logged in DES offices day in, day out by the people there to obtain help? Desperate people, desperate to work, desperate to provide, any way they can.
In rooms full of people in rough situations...I don't see these supposed "lazy" people.
