It's Election Night in many states across the country, and we're liveblogging the results of races large and small. The biggest contests are for governor in New Jersey and Virginia and mayor in New York City, but there are many other hotly contested elections that are up for grabs, including attorney general and the state House of Delegates in Virginia; a key state Senate seat in Washington; and mayoral races in Boston, Seattle, and many other cities.
Results: New Jersey | New York | Virginia
6:32 PM PT (Darth Jeff): 83 percent reporting in Charlotte and Democrat Patrick Cannon leads Republican Edwin Peacock 52-48 to be the city's next mayor. The GOP invested heavily in this race.
6:34 PM PT: McAuliffe (D) finally has his first lead of the night, about 0.3%, with 91% reporting in VA-Gov. The real question now is whether Dem Mark Herring can pull closer in the AG race, where he trails 51-49.
6:35 PM PT (Darth Jeff): Now 93% reporting in Charlotte and Cannon up 53-47. Peacock running out of space.
6:36 PM PT (Darth Jeff): Almost a quarter reporting in Detroit and Duggan up 52-48 over Napoleon to be the new mayor. This looks far more competitive than the Duggan blow-out the poss suggested.
6:40 PM PT: We're finally seeing a trickle of results in the Westchester County (NY) executive's race.
6:42 PM PT (Darth Jeff): Westchester County is just starting to come in. With 2% reporting, Democrat Noam Bramson leads Republican incumbent Rob Astorino 62-38 in the County Executive race. Bramson was endorsed by county resident Bill Clinton.
6:44 PM PT (Darth Jeff): 29% reporting in Detroit and Duggan remains in the lead with 53-47.
6:44 PM PT (Laura Clawson): The liveblog continues here.
