Time to get the December Kos Katalogue Bloggathon started!
It's been a rough year for many of us and your purchases of, and help in promoting, our work go a long way toward making life better for all of us.
But before I begin my own bloated sales pitch I thought I'd frame my work with the fine work of other Kossarians:
And just before I dive below the delicately whorled ginger hairball and get completely self-centered I thought I'd share this with you.
Although this has been my worst year financially for the last two decades (my illustration work for ad agencies vanished as European austerity took hold of the economy-- it'll get better though, fear not for ol' fuzzy Marko, he is well-loved at home) I still want to find ways to give something back to this community. Because I've particularly enjoyed my dips in the Cheers & Jeers kiddie pool, where I've risked the moistening of many of my drawings, I took a suggestion and ran with it:
"Billeh in Candy Corn"
I'm having full-sized (approx. 11" x 8"), giclée, archival quality prints made of this drawing.
One of these prints is going up for auction to support the progressive bloggers convention, Netroots Nation, next year in Detroit. The bidding for all items starts December 5th at 9:00 AM EST and ends December 9th at 10:00 PM EST with the possibility of overtime bidding for those hot items! And what could be hotter than BiPM and Kevin the Socialist Duckstick lounging in a kiddie pool filled with candy corn?
To help cover my costs for donating something that I don't really have the funds to actually have printed (no money left for beer) I thought I'd open the possibility of letting you folks pay for it and get your own superb quality print in return-- plus the more prints I have the printer make the lower will be the final cost. I think $35.00 would be a fair price and would include packing and shipping by insured airmail anywhere in the world. Printed on heavyweight, acid-free, rag papers and using the highest quality, light-fast inks these prints are made to last for hundreds of years.
As an additional gesture of thanks to Billeh for modelling for me I'll be donating half of any net profit from this venture to help fill BiPM's coffers and keep him rolling in candy corn.
I've noticed over at the auction that they've placed my drawing in the section for "collectibles". If I can sell a few of these prints there may very well be more to collect in the near future. There has been idle talk of a BiPM pin-up calendar ...
Please contact me by kosmail to place an order for prints of "Billeh in Candy Corn". I could be shipping as early as next week.
Alternately, you could order this image printed onto shirts, caps, laptop sleeves, coffee mugs, beer steins ... I don't make a tremendous profit through sales of swag; usually only a couple of dollars per item. And again, half of any and all profits, meager thought they may be, will be sent to the man, the inspiration, the one, the only-- Billeh!
And no-- that wasn't creepy at all!
And now, in the center ring, I direct your kind attention to all the other stuff I'm selling...
I've heard consistently good things from customers of my on-demand swag printing shop. I think I offer an interesting sampling of my work there but if you have any suggestions or advice on how to improve the selection please do contact me. Many of the items for sale are made in the good ol' USA and some are even certified organic! Here are a couple lower resolution images of my most popular designs:
That one is also known as "Tea Bird" and is the only design at this time up for sale on my other online shop. They have a bewilderingly wide selection of items for sale at Zazzle.
The original brush and India ink drawing on acid-free paper I'll eagerly cut out of my sketchbook and send to you for $75-- including the packing and insured airmail costs.
This is also a popular item-- I'm told that it looks particularly good on the green tote bag:
The original is a 19" x 19", oil painting on Masonite particle board and I'll send it off for the low-low sale price of $320. Yeah, I'm getting pretty desperate to make some more sales before the end of the year.
More Oil Paintings
Another floral oil painting, this time "Carnations"; slightly larger at 19" x 22", I'd be willing to sell it for $350.
"Chrysanthemums", 19" x 19", oil on rough Masonite, $315.
Here's a big one:
"Sea Serpent", 27" x 31", oil on Masonite, $820
Something for fans of the apocalypse perhaps?
"Mutant Zombie", 19.5" x 19", oil on Masonite, $275
Watercolor
"Sasso Ferrato's Mary", 6" x 8", watercolor & croquil ink sketch, $75
"St. Vitus Cathedral" in Prague, as seen from the porch at the Queen's Summer Palace, approximately 16" x 20", watercolor on acid free paper, $315
Acrylic
"Frank", 14" x 22", acrylic on bristol board (cardstock), $215
Ceramics
Starting with the two stoneware skulls I fired in the kiln I built:
The teeth are colored with a kaolin rich slip. It's hollow and can be placed over a tea candle for a dramatic bit of mood lighting--
"Skull #1", wood-fired stoneware, 4.75" tall, $220
"Skull #2", wood-fired stoneware, 4.75" tall, $180 -- the darker color on this piece is from the smoky finish to that particular firing.
Suitable for for hanging on a pendant perhaps:
"Scarab Beetle", 1.5" long, glazed electric-fired stoneware, $20
"Vessel", 2" tall, glazed interior, hand-burnished exterior, wheel-thrown terracotta, $45
"Tiny Ghoulish Head", 1.5" tall, terracotta, $35
"Small Vase", 3.5" tall, hand-burnished, unglazed, sawdust low-fired, wheel-thrown stoneware, $40
"Black Bear", 3" tall, unglazed, sawdust low-fired stoneware, $45 SOLD

"Smithy", croquil drawing, $75
