I'm a faithful follower of this site, and have enjoyed many diaries, and comments over the years. I was a combat medic in Vietnam, and sadly saw to many die from their wounds during that deployment. I have strong feelings about the direction of our country, and the political discourse that has polarized and divided our country, more below.
I often think of those that I witnessed making the ultimate sacrifice, and lay down at night and think about what they gave in defense of this nation. I can still see some of their faces, still too young to shave, laying in a make shift morgue, thousands of miles away from home. I would document their valuables, often looking in their wallets at loved ones back home. The body would be processed, and prepared for return home. I never got used to it, I cried often at night by myself for no apparent reason. I guess what I was experiencing some days was more than my mind could bare. I had more soldier's than I care to remember die in my care, that burden I'll carry to the grave.
I shared some personal moments to say this... I struggle now wondering if our corporate, and political leader's really even care, or give deep thought to the sacrifices that are made by those defending them. The responsibility is republican and democratic, corporate and political. The inability to work together for the common good of all, is a failure to those who died in a far away land defending this process. Maybe some of these corporate CEO's and political leader's need to hold a man dying in their arms as he is suffering, and approaching death far from U.S. soil. Maybe then they could really understand what sacrifice really is. I think you corporate CEO's, political leader's, and media owe them more, much more.....I haven't written many diaries, please excuse...just needed to get this off my chest....trailmovin
