It's kind of like this, but less romantic, crowded, and cold.
Welcome to the 5th annual Netroots Nation Holiday Bazaar, that showcase of Kossack ingenuity, skill, and talent.
It's time to start bidding!
With things hardly begun, the hot ticket is a string of leg lamps. Because what's Christmas without "the soft glow of electric sex in the window"? I bet you can figure out who donated that one, can't you.
Another hot item comes from Laura Clawson, coconut macaroons. A late breaking update on that item: they'll be dipped in chocolate! How could you possibly resist? (Unless you're one of those coconut-hating freaks, in which case, could I interest you in some of my great-grandma Simer's perfect fudge, lovingly concocted by mcmom?)
There's lots more in the way of food, some fantastic jewelry (what blogger would be seen without her ethernet earrings), art, books, and all around unique stuff, much of it crafted by your fellow Kossasks, donated for a very good cause.
Which is this: Detroit in 2014. This time of year is always a bit of a lean time for the Netroots Nation crew. Registrations aren't yet pouring in for next year's convention (you know you can register now, right? A registration for a friend or family member might make a pretty decent gift, too.) One of the way we make sure that the team can spend its time working hard to make Detroit the best convention yet is ease some of that scrambling for funds.
That means helping the cause of keeping this big ol' mess of a netroots running strong. Because when we're strong, we kick ass, we do things the conventional wisdom said could never be done. And we're going to need to bring everything we've got to 2014.
You can start by going here and finding a fantastic gift (we won't tell if you keep it for yourself), imbued with all the spirit of the season, plus some good kick-ass liberal rabble-rousing.
Act fast. The bidding ends Monday, December 9 at 10:00 PM (ET).
