By the "New Democrats".
"Sorry".
Poor Boehner.. Hopefully those cases of Johnny Walker Black arrive at home in time for his four week Christmas vacation.
For two days running, Boehner, R-Ohio, has made clear that he's heard just about enough from conservative advocacy groups such as the Heritage Foundation, Americans for Prosperity and Freedomworks.
On Wednesday, he called them "ridiculous." On Thursday, he said "they've lost all credibility."
Stoking Boehner's anger was their rapid-fire opposition to the modest budget deal reached by fellow Republican Rep. Paul Ryan and Democratic Sen. Patty Murray, Congress' respective budget committee chairmen. The measure was passed by the House Thursday evening.
But he seemed even more ticked off by what he said, in so many words, was an unserious approach to governing demonstrated by those groups and their allies in Congress.
All of it resulted in the normally buttoned down Boehner delivering a GIF-ready performance as he showed his disgust for the attitude hard-liners took toward the government shutdown.
Now that more (sort of) reasonably minded pols like Boehner have woken up and smelled the bourbon-laced coffee (Obama
crushed Rmoney) they know they've got to move their feeble/bigoted GOP back to the middle, in order to win elections and keep their well paid, phony baloney jobs.
Large problem: the utterly boring, status-quo supporting middle is already occupied by 95% of the "democrats" in Congress. and of course the democrats are going nowhere, since they gained a bit of turf in the last election-- no reason for them to rock the boat much and embrace any sort of liberal agenda.
In fact, I can more or less guarantee you democrats in Congress will not be on board with raising the Scrooge-like minimum wage to even $10.00 a stinking hour, much less to $15-$17.00 where it actually should be if you're serious about getting people out of
poverty... but it should be obvious by now very few people in Congress are serious about fixing our totally F***ed up economy.
What's poor John Boehner to do? He knows he can't have the absurd, irrelevant teabagger mob controlling the so called GOP agenda-- but if he turns back toward the middle, there's a ton of democrats sitting there laughing in his orange face, and the teabagger mob will draw out their penknives..
FAIL.
