Thank you, Jim White, for writing (on emptywheel) about the droning in Qaifah, al-Baida governorate, Yemen last Thursday, 12-12-13 (full article here includes comments). It is said to have killed and wounded 25 people. Or see another report that says 38 killed and injured. The casualties included at least two tribal leaders. POTUS Obama should clearly tell us which friends the U.S. wants to win by persisting in these strikes!
On On 12-15 Adam Baron claimed he was been told the Yemeni parliament vote to ban drones was unanimous. This U.S. droning must stop. That is why so many of us voted for POTUS Obama in 2008. In reply to Conor Friersdorf, writing today in The Atlantic, the comments evidence widespread agreement opposing the dronings.
Definitley sign up to be able to stream and then watch Robert Greenwald's full-length feature film, Unmanned: America's Drone Wars released 10-30-13 if you have not already seen it. Seeing the film helps people understand why so many detest this use of drones that cause stress injuring U.S. military and civilian personnel as well as maiming or killing civilians in other countries. Rania Khalek who works on her own independent journalism filed separate reports on 11-03-13 in Dispatches from the Underclass and in the source Truthout. Both Khalek stories are superior. In the six weeks since Greenwald and Khalek released their work, the use of drones by the U.S. has only worsened, the need for wider condemnation increases.
Thank the Members of Congress who attended the 10-29-13 Congressional Briefing organized by U.S.Rep. Alan Grayson FL-9 (Cmte on Foreign Affairs [Subcmte on The Middle East & North Africa], and Cmte on Science, Space, & Technology). The video sound level improves when the testimonies begin at 11:28 in the video. Those Congressional Members are Reps. Janice D Schakowsky IL-9 (Energy & Commerce and Permanent Select Committee on Intelligence), Rush Holt NJ-12 (Natural Resources, Education & the Work Force), John Conyers Jr. MI-13 (Judiciary) and Richard M. Nolan MN-8 (Agriculture. Transportation & Infrastructure). Transcripts from the Congressional Briefing are available here.
Work to stop the drone wars. Honor the Horace Mann dictum: Be ashamed to die until you have won some victory for humanity.
