A few friends and I are supporting recovery work in the Philippines via holiday sales of our cards, music, jewelry and tshirts. Please consider channel your holiday shopping into much needed recovery work, while getting hand letterpressed cards + beautiful presents for your loved ones. Every bit we can raise is truly appreciated, both by us and communities in the Philippines.
On a side note, I've raised $515 so far in sales for Bantayan Island. My friend Martha, whose family I'm channeling the money through (they are long-time supporters of livelihood + empowerment projects on Bantayan and I trust them), was overwhelmed with emotion. That is enough to put roofs on 5 houses in Bantayan. I don't consider $515 to be a huge amount, but it goes a long long way in the Philippines.
NEWHARD DESIGN HOLIDAY CARDS ON ETSY Christmas, Hanukkah, Maligayang Pasko, and aetheist-friendly Happy New Year cards (bonus: featuring a quote by kossack Bill in Portland!). Also featuring Zombie Love magnets and Cancelled Rapture tshirts and totes.
Letterpressed Christmas cards, aetheist-friendly Cancelled Rapture/Happy New Year cards , and zombie love magnets. Hanukkah cards, Maligyang Pasko cards, and other gifts available.
Until Dec 8, 100% of the sales will go to rebuilding costs for Bantayan Island, the "Madridejos Relief Effort", that my friend Martha Atienza is helping organize. Around 98% of the houses were badly damaged by the typhoon, and they need help to rebuild them, as well as get the local fishing and egg economies moving again. You can follow updates on the community I'm supporting

MEBUYAN MUSIC FOR RELIEF (Via my friend Geej Arriola Langlois, musician, composer and artist) Mindanao-based band Mebuyan released a special album for typhoon relief, "Mga Kwentong Mindanaw."
The ladies (and gentlemen) of southern Mindanao band Mebuyan, on the cover of this special fundraiser relief album.
I had the great pleasure of meeting the band in 2007, and seeing them perform in Davao. I also had the great pleasure of drinking Red Horse with them afterwards... They are all accomplished musicians of the southern Philippines music scene. Their unique sound incorporates the indigenous instruments of the southern Philippines into beautiful female harmonies. One of the tracks is by
Bayang Barrios and arranged by her husband Mike Villegas, two well-known musicians in the alternative, indigenous music scene of the Philippines.
