The Hagel confirmation, the Benghazi affair, the ridiculous claims of the GOP and their pundits has turned the once great America into a carnival sideshow. The United States of America, has become the laughingstock of the international community. Who needs to watch Jersey Shore for ridiculousness when one can just read up on the antics of the elected representatives, who were elected to represent the American people.
Newly minted Senator Ted Cruz (R-TX) clearly demonstrates the erosion of the GOP to the empty shell it now is. While the last election rid the Congress of the likes of carnie-like Congressmen with the ousting of Joe Walsh (R-IL) and Allan West (R-FL), Texas replaced them with Ted Cruz. It certainly isn’t an improvement.
Mr. Cruz, again 7 WEEKS OF EXPERIENCE AS SENATOR, has given himself laryngitis grilling fellow Republican, Chuck Hagel, during the confirmation hearings of Obama’s nomination of Hagel for Secretary of Defense. Joining in on the demonizations of Hagel, Little Lindsey Graham is more than willing to leave the Pentagon leaderless while demanding answers to Benghazi through inane questioning (Hagel was not part of the Obama administration at the time of the Embassy attack). Considering there were extensive hearings about Benghazi, I have no idea what it has to do with Hagel’s confirmation.
Insane John McCain stated the following on Fox News.
"To be honest with you ... it goes back to [that] there's a lot of ill will towards Senator Hagel because when he was a Republican, he attacked President Bush mercilessly and [said] he was the worst president since Herbert Hoover and said the surge was the worst blunder since the Vietnam War, which was nonsense. He was anti-his own party and people. People don't forget that."
Considering Hagel was right, his position on the surge was absolutely correct, perhaps McCain should learn that blind faith is not an attribute. He should also recall that he came out against his party on several occasions when he was still mentally capable of serving as a Senator.
One of the sticking points during the initial confirmation hearings centers on the Global Zero report, “Modernizing U.S. Nuclear Strategy, Force Structure and Posture” which Chuck Hagel co-authored. On at least 5 different occasions, Chuck Hagel stated that the Global Zero Report was illustrative, not a recommendation and was based on multilateral negotiations.
The actions of John McCain, Lindsey Graham, Ted Cruz and Kelly Ayotte have clearly turned a confirmation hearing into a circus. It seems that they view Congress as their own personal soap opera, intentionally circumventing the once time honoured manner in which the government conducted itself. To treat an honoured war veteran in such a despicable manner not only diminished them, but diminishes their own party and the government itself. This will not reflect poorly on the current administration, but will reflect on the legacy they leave behind. History, certainly will not be kind to them.
