I commented in a commonmass diary a few Sundays ago. Caused me to remember that the first conversation I ever had on dKos was with himself. At the time, I did not admit to hijacking his uid, but, whatever, I've fessed up since.
Anyhow, the topic? The band Yes and a first concert loooonnnggg ago.
In celebration of my reinvigorated brain cells and of the Nups, a recap as way of thank you for making my first interaction an encouraging experience.
BTW, you ever try to get back to your first comment? Painful...
Yes
Yes reached their creative peak in the progressive genre when most notably Anderson, Squire, Howe, Bruford, White, and keyboardist Rick Wakeman were part of the band's line-ups, and produced what many critics consider their finest works: The Yes Album, Fragile (both in 1971), Close to the Edge (1972), Tales from Topographic Oceans (1973), Relayer (1974) and Going for the One (1977).

Close to the edge...down by the river
The stage looked like the album cover!
Listen, strange women lyin' in ponds distributin' swords is no basis for a system of government. Supreme executive power derives from a mandate from the masses, not from some farcical aquatic ceremony.

The very first public event I attended (7+ / 0-)
was at the old Boston Garden: it was my father's graduation from Northeastern. In 1969. I was two months old.

Don't worry. I did enough of that in college (5+ / 0-)
to last me a lifetime. But I think my dad was high that afternoon.
Speaking of Boston, I have a gig there this weekend. Haven't been down there from Maine in a long time. Even better, it's in JP, my old neighborhood. I know I am going to get all nostalgic and not want to come back to Portland.

Roundabout - Live Acoustic
And You & I
Close to the Edge 1972
We've come in search of America
Owner of a Lonely Heart
Close to the edge, down by the river.
Down at the end, round by the corner.
Seasons will pass you by,
Now that it's all over and done,
Called to the seed, right to the sun.
Now that you find, now that you're whole.
Seasons will pass you by,
I get up, I get down.
I get up, I get down.
I get up, I get down.
I get up.
