Washington works in mysterious ways. It's full of hidden passage ways, covert connections, trap doors, and of course, revolving doors.
The revolving doors that exist between the financial sector and the regulators who are supposed to police them keep spinning faster and faster. Sadly this seems to happen no matter which party controls the executive branch. It goes a long way to explaining how the hens never get to keep watch over the hen houses (and dare I say, nest eggs). Somehow it seems it's always the foxes who end up keeping watch.
Think I'm crying wolf? Check out this report that the nonpartisan watchdog group POGO just did on the S.E.C. and all the regulators rushing through the revolving doors
