So I figured I'd pop in with a diary. And a cup of freshly brewed, freshly home-roasted coffee with Amish country heavy cream and some early morning shoot-the-shit with my dearest internet friends. And try to redeem myself for the absence by showing you what I've been so busy with.
So I'm still in dad's basement. Sigh. I'm starting to feel a bit claustrophobic. Like I'll never get out. I still have that house in Florida, but I'll admit...after living in arguably the most liberal area in the country (and one without a recession), it's real hard to think about going back. Ever. Nevertheless, hubby and I are hoping to get ourselves a little apartment in Halifax NS later this year where we can run away to every couple months for a short break from the basement.
My primary business was up for a DHS contract that I think might be in sequester hell. The project leader says they're still evaluating the bids and that we're "looking good" based on the questions she's been asked by them. But I'm not confident. Pity. I could've hired 4-5 people (possibly more) at entertainment industry union wages for the project and still had enough left over to pay all my debt (except our mortgage) and help my dad financially and have a few bucks to put in reserve. So yeah, I'm pretty pissed. But who knows? Maybe the project leader is right. Keep your fingers crossed for me!
I've stopped producing ads and video media for commercial businesses (do people really need to be coerced into buying more shit?) and instead am doing them exclusively for micro-, small- and medium-sized non-profits. YAY! I guess in this sense, I'm glad to be here in DC...
And then there's this. This is what I've been working on for the last few months.
I'm excited about it and you're really the first to know. Natch. It's not ready to go yet, but many of the main pages are fleshed out. I've still got lots to do, though. I'll post something again about it in another few weeks. You're welcomed to KosMail me or connect with me at the
Facebook page if you want to know more or if you want to get involved in some way. I've had this passion for state and local politics for some time and I think I've finally figured out a way to be able to do something about it. We simply HAVE to. They're killing us at the state and local level. Killing us.
Well, that's all the news that is news. What the hell have you been up to?
7:16 AM PT: UPDATE: Wow thanks for warm welcome back, y'all. And the many well wishes and ideas for and about Bold Blue. If you're on FB and want to post state and local based posts on the Bold Blue FB page, just like the page and let me know who you are. I'll approve you to post on the page.
