If you run a committee in the House, you get to run its website, which is a great way to demonstrate how much of a dick you are. Here is Rep. Lamar Smith's Science, Space, and Technology Committee:
On the plus side, it lists the members side-by-side on equal footing. On the dickish side, it labels the Democratic members of the committee as "Democrat members." Rush Limbaugh approves.
But that's nothing compared to Missouri Rep. Sam Graves, who heads the Committee on Small Business. I was perusing that page looking for the Democratic members of the committee, yet found none. Just the committee's 13 white male Republicans (and one token female).
I scrolled down that entire page looking for Democrats, but found none. Shouldn't the page titled "COMMITTEE MEMBERS" include, you know, the committee's members? Was Graves ignoring the Democrats' entire existence? Almost. After fishing around a bit, I finally noticed this, way at the bottom:
See that tiny little link on the lower right-hand corner? And clicking through, you get to this page:
Separate and nowhere near equal. Dick.
It's not as if you have to be a dick. Rep. Buck McKeon's Armed Services Committee is quite collegial. As is Rep. Frank Lucas' Committee on Agriculture and Rep. Edward Royce's Committee on Foreign Affairs. But Sam Graves is just a special kind of dick.
